Hollande Makes Surprise Visit to Moscow (wonder what will come out of that )

French President François Hollande arrived in Moscow on Saturday for a surprise meeting with Vladimir Putin to discuss the crisis in Ukraine, one of the first Western leaders to visit the Russian president since the annexation of Crimea.

Mr. Hollande and Mr. Putin met Saturday afternoon at Moscow airport, according to the Kremlin's website. The French president made the stop on his way back to Paris from a trip to Kazakhstan, according to a French official.

The visit comes after France last month suspended the delivery of a powerful warship to Russia, a move that risked deepening tensions with the Kremlin over its incursions into Ukraine.
In a brief statement before going into the meeting, Mr. Putin told Mr. Hollande that his trip, however brief, was a "real working visit."

"Our discussions have positive results," Mr. Putin said, in a video posted by the French presidency on its website. "We will advance together," he said.

Mr. Hollande said that France and Russia had the will to find solutions together. "We must avoid having more walls that divide," Mr. Hollande replied.
