Your assessment is correct, in terms of the here and now, but think of the problem from a larger perspective beyond politics and politicians. We should never confuse conservatism and traditionalism with the Republican Party. Ultimately, they too will be naturally selected against and out of existence if they resist natural tendencies and traditions that work and are naturally selected for. That lesson was clearly taught to Democrats in the southern United States this year. They were totally eradicated from power because they resisted traditions.

New traditions don't begin because they are not time-tested not embraced by the majority. Instead, we see the very transient nature of fads, "pop-culture", gimmicks, etc., but those never endure.

Most social issues seem out of balance now, because of the artificial nature of fiat currencies, and the abundance of bread and circuses, but this is not a permanent condition. Those are artificial constructs that will ultimately fail, whereas conservative traditions, by definition, will not.
