Thanks for the suggestions but I don't think they're my answers. Both my TV sets are barely 2 years old, as is the player recorder connected to the big set. Some time ago I swapped the 2 player/recorders and the tapes still would not play on the big TV. That suggests to me there is some kind of difference in the 2 TV sets. Both are Visio and were purchased only a few days apart.
Anyway, I can live with playing the tapes in the kitchen. Most are painting instructional tapes I recorded off the TV in years past. Watching them while leaning on the kitchen table enables me to make notes. Plus, I've watched them so many times I can lip sync most of them. Still, thanks for responding.... great board here.
