While I thank you for your response, I'm less than comforted by the "new info" you present.

There still is a greater demand for than supply of "anti-body laden plasma" when it comes to this particular Ebola survivor donation -- whether coerced or voluntary.

"Just pump me full of somebody else's plasma" simplistic response reeks of "op ed" by someone who's never had a transfusion of any type. Thank God transfusions whether packed RBCs or Plasma or or or, is only a short term solution, as the body replaces the transfused with self-manufactured (all things being equal) in about 90-120 days. As transfusions are perceived by the human system as foreign matter, all components are on the way OUT via the body's waste disposal systems, and completely cleared by withint that time period.

Coerced or voluntary???

More demand than supply so "who gets the plasma donation"???

A person in recovery from hemmorhagic fever acute episode, is NOT in tip-top physical condition for quite a period afterwards dismissal from ICU. And, you want to add (forced or voluntary) "liquid extractions" aka deficits to the post-acute phase mix????

For example, would you want your loved one to receive a plasma transfusion from, oh, let's say an AIDs donor who has recovered from Ebola?

There are definitely controllers involved, and decisions being made above my paygrade, that is obvious. That is my point.

On first blush, your arguments to the contrary are not persuasive. If we live long enough, perhaps there will be synthetic supply of plasma laden with lab-generated anti-bodies which will become available. Perhaps that sourcing will be the recommended course of treatment in this horrid situation.
