The reason, IMO, Obama did not use m/any of our left wing intellectuals, IMO:

1) He did not want to fight the plutocrats, bankers or torturers. E.g if he had appointed Stiglitz and Krugman they would have pushed him to break up the banks. Which he should have done when the iron was hot.

But instead he told the bankers he was there to protect them from the public (Michael Lewis).

He ran an outside game to beat Hillary, but then immediately turned to an inside game which involved schmoozing not fighting (Richard Wollfe).

As well, had he appointed Howard dean, Dean would have wanted to fight for universal health care first, before just capitulating like he did.

According to Susan Page Obama has intimidated the press more than any president in a long time. He also has the tightest and most secretive white house; and it was the congressional black caucus that forced him to not cave in again during the debt ceiling fights. And when he refused to cave in the last time and turned left, the pubs folded like a cheap suit and his poll numbers started to rise.

According to Richard Wolffs book, Obama distanced himself from the dems right from the beginning e.g. not taking the normal dem administration in place, but creating a competing one.

Obama ran as a dem and we expected him to be our leader. He never wanted the job and did little to help dem congress people.

Maybe that is why we lost so bad in 2010 and 2014?
