When you downloaded the Adobe update there were probably check boxes on the download page that were pre-checked to allow Google Chrome to be downloaded as your main internet browser (and probably the ask toolbar also).

To change you preferred browser back to internet explorer you can open the control panel, select internet options, select the Programs tab on the top of the options dialog, and in the area titled Default Browser click on the Make Default button.

To get rid of Google Chrome browser go to control panel, select Programs and Features, then look in the list of program for Google Chrome, select it with your mouse and then click Uninstall above the list of programs and follow any screen instructions. If a browser window pops up you can simply close it (they sometimes go to the web site to get feedback on why you are uninstalling the product).

To get rid of the Ask toolbar do the same, only this time select the entry for the Ask Toolbar.

When you restore to a prior restore point you should not lose anything that you did in regards to documents, emails, etc. only system modifications and program installations/changes/deletions.

In the future please take extra caution to look over the screens provided prior to selecting OK or Continue. Often there are other "features" that are preselected that are useless, eat up vital resources and allow unfettered access/tracking of your activities on the internet.
