Our old egg / mushroom slicer finally gave up last night. Cheap plastic frame with wires (one of the wires broke), I was leery of it and it was on borrowed time for longer than I had expected. It was mostly used to slice eggs, mushrooms, and strawberries. It seemed to groan a bit when pressed to slice strawberries that were not very ripe. Ordered a new and improved slicer last night from Amazon. Norpro 5170 egg / mushroom slicer is made of cast aluminum (NOT plastic) with stainless steel blades (NOT wires). Total $12.31 Canadian Dollars and it is shipping with other stuff in our order (free shipping). Here is a video review of it in action: youtu.be
