All,

I missed two items in the PR that deserve comment.

Mr. Lau has stated that Deswell's current and future focus is likely to be telecommunications equipment. Economists and analysts all seem to agree that telecom is likely to be a fast growing sector and a good arena for Deswell to focus efforts.

He also pointed out their improved software that gives them an improved 'order to delivery' process and quality control. This is becoming more critical as all companies move to 'just in time' and similar operating methods. I believe ELAMF has had a problem in this area and it's cost them business. If Deswell can deliver high quality products in a short lead time, it will convert to higher margins and less risk of obsolete inventory writeoffs.

I had time to watch the market action today. A lot of small buys of 200-500 and sellers offering 1000-2000. There was one buyer of 5000. I still believe we are seeing tax loss selloffs instead of Asian Panic. Those that would bail out of Asian stocks are likely gone already.

My apologies for the number of posts I'm making to the thread. It's due to focused efforts looking for Deswell downside risk.

For what it's worth,
Ron

I said Matsushita might weather the storm. They were downgraded today so I guess not. It does look like Japan will make the needed tax cuts to stabilize things, but it will be too late for many companies that will have to reduce assets and debt.
