somebody asked me about JNUG... here is my short answer regarding 3x ETF' in general. (she has been following the thread & has tried trading these toxic beasts) based on what I was doing. She got caught in buying too much JNUG and wanted to know what to do.

I told her to sell (the assumption being the first lost is the best lost) or to at least try to buy JDST as a trading vehicle...

Hi ******,
3x leveraged ETF's can be reversed split many, many times. (because of the decay inherent in these things) remember they replicate 3x the leverage on a single day and only a single day. Anything else will kill ya in the end if you're not playing a trend (long or short)

At the end of the R/S they will be worth next to nothing, and they will still continue to keep on R/S the ETF until the cows come home...

...and then at the end of the day... all you will have left is some fractional pennies on some worthless piece of paper.

Gotta be careful playing 3x leveraged ETF's. Ya can make a lot of money and ya can lose a lot of money playing at the casino.

disclaimer: I post these conversations on SI for people who are responsible for their own trades. The reason "I usually do not know what I'm talking about.. so please don't sue as I am not your agent and am not qualified to be one".
