There was no torture, the term EIT is probably a better fit. And it did work.

For example, the EIT applied to Zubaydah resulted in the capture of bin al-Shibh. Directly. And bin al Shibh's capture resulted in the capture of critical documents and other information, and ultimately, the capture of Walid bin Attash.

Among those whose captures resulted from Zubaydah's EIT (or "torture", if you like) was Al-Nashiri, who was responsible for the bombing of the Cole.

It is worth noting that the CIA's interrogation got the results after the FBI men totally screwed up the interrogation using ordinary crime detective techniques like the Reid Method. They just don't work on people who have been trained to be interrogated.
