Robin,

24 was the low for XLNX in the summer of 96, while the low for ALTR was 13. ALTR has grown sales and earnings since then, but XLNX has not. I bought 1/3 of XLNX at 30 (ALTR was higher then) and I am looking to buy again at 25 and 20, which will give me an average cost of 24. I am wondering why I didn't buy ALTR at the recent 30 price, but I guess I was influenced by the ML and Lehman analyses which seem to favor XLNX now. I had thought to start buying ALTR at 25, but I probably should rethink starting at 30.

I am flying by the seat of my pants with these two because I don't believe they will get to "value" levels. Two others I would like to buy, LLTC and MXIM, are even worse.
