Unclewest,
Granted, in exceptionally selective interviews, it did get us a tiny bit of good intel that we were able to use short term. Are you opposed to using such info to attack those who murdered thousands of American non-combatant men, women, and children?
This is a gray matter for me.

As a matter of principle, I believe we shouldn't resort to torture if we can help it. It's way too easy for government to start justifying its pervasive use for any perceived threat to national security.

I'm not so much against it, however, that I would reject using any actionable intel obtained through such methods to go after the terrorists where they live.

That's why I'm against the release of the report, even though I would support ending the practices of torture, oh sorry, "harsh interrogation methods." The report aims to apologize for our actions. I don't think we need to apologize for anything.

All we need to do is realize just how close we are to stepping over the line, then quietly back away.
