Penni, I can see that my worries about whether my son still "believes" in Santa will too soon seem very trivial. In your posts about parenting, it sounds like you are very open with your sons about your concerns, thoughts and feelings. I'd say to go with your instincts. It seems to me that parents cannot be too protective, as long as they treat their children as intelligent beings and explain why they have restrictions, which you certainly seem to do!

I've always thought the European attitude of treating wine and beer almost as a food (usually accompanying a meal) was healthy. But we don't live in the same kind of society, so adolescents here may deal with situations European teenagers would seldom encounter. I also think the psychologist makes a good point, and one I hadn't thought of before.

Re: Music- Have you ever heard Loreena McKennitt(sp)? She plays the harp, and has a lovely voice, I particularly like "I Dream".
Saw the movie "Shine" and loved it. Have you seen it? And...
in the movie "I've Heard the Mermaids Singing" there is a beautiful piece of music, but I don't know what it is!! If anyone knows, please tell me!
