"I said that how you deal with them says more about you than anything else." Fine, then you're indicating your answer. If a dirty bomb went off in your city, you'd be glad the captured terrorist had his rights protected .... your family would be a price you'd be willing to pay for your principles. At least that's what you think not being in the situation.

How about a captured member of a terror group which has a dirty bomb in your city? No one touches him and he gets a lawyer to see rights are protected. Then the dirty bomb goes off and kills ten thousand people in your home city. You survive but your family all dies. You will be thankful the captured terrorist got his rights protected, right?

OTOH If you find out that someone deprived him of sleep, scared him, or whatever, you will be outraged at that
.

"why don't you tell me how overwhelming the evidence is in their favor."

I've already done that. The fact they limited themselves to waterboarding and sleep deprivation is testimony to their care to limit themselves. Ditto for their limiting enhanced interrogation to a small number of terrorists.

If they were the sadistic monsters you're saying they are, they'd wouldn't fooled around ... they'd have used car batteries, red hot pokers, etc.
