Doesn't matter that you had the buy lined up .. you still owned it and could have done whatever you wanted. They wouldn't have refused to take a building and free $50K to "install your own system", either. They would have refused "Oh, by the way, I added solar, so the price is $50K more than we agreed to." Sounds like you should've hunted for another buyer. OR do what I would have suggested ... blow off that solar crap. Which you did. Good choice.
