We just got some Brie cheese... honestly, we've never had it before, we tasted it and it was really mellow and delicious...

I have three questions...

1) The cheese is encased in a white powdery type substance... is that edible as part of the cheese itself or should that outer casing be removed and not eaten?

2) What is that outer casing, where did it come from, why is it there?

3) What is the best way to enjoy this cheese, i.e., room temperature, right out of the fridge, or melted down?

Many thanks in advance...
