Saving the economy from total collapse was a big help. Restoring enough faith in the financial system that international trade didn't collapse was a major benefit. Raising taxes, depending how high and on whom, can be a net positive for a variety of reasons. Often have no net effect.

Oh, what is the use? Clearly you are a fan of discredited theories of economics.
