BARNES EXPECTS RECORD EARNINGS - This from an article appearing in "The Hartford Courant" 12/17/97. "Barnes Group, Inc. says it expects to report record 1997 annual earnings for the third consecutive year. Theodore E. Martin, President and CEO of the Bristol, (CT)-based manufacturer, told securities analysts in Philadelphia last week that the company's momentum of strong sales and profits had continued through the first nine months of this year. Barnes in 1996 reported net income of $32.6 million. Martin said the company's stock price has more than doubled during the past year and the quarterly cash dividend has been increased three times during the the past 12 quarters." MT
