The correlation between stock prices and the actual economy is very loose. Our "real" economy hasn't been going up in recent years nearly as steeply as the stock prices. Indeed, some people define bull markets and bubbles as periods of "expanding PEs", and bear markets/crashes - as periods of "contracting PEs". Lots of BS gets hidden in all this.

I can't argue about the percentage growth of the Russian economy in the last 15 years - I don't have the knowledge. This Eugene Rumer strikes me as a credible person - so, for now, that's good enough for me. I'll keep my eyes open for some corroboration - or evidence to the contrary. If you run into some good data, please let me know.
