Europe has been toast for a long time. US made the Europe we see today. Used it a bulwark against communist Russia. Le's make this Germany so shiny and nice that the Communist Eastern block would dream of being like that.

Japan show case did the same for China and the rest of Asia.

US had a huge internal market allowed Europe and Japan to export to all over the world to grow their industrial bases.

.Gold standard and Bretton Woods action among friends ruled everything.

The system had ran ot of steam by he end of the 60s.
To keep the system going, Nixon opted out the Gold Standard.
