A few months ago, I downloaded IE and installed it. Several hours later, I heard my modem click. IE was, all on its own, dialing my ISP.

It was auto-updating your subscription (channel) content. You can turn it off if you want. It probably should not have been on by default in the first place, but it's right there in the documentation and readme.
