Dear FUBHO,

My personal feeling at this time is that providing too much message formatting capability - allowing users to embed emoticons, variable font sizes, centering, right-adjusting, strike-though and the like invites users to create posts which would cause much of the site to start looking kitsch like the old MySpace.
