I am a Cdn Sr engineer who developed much of your fiber-optic infrastructure equipment throughout the 1980's and early '90s, for video monitoring and sign-controlling ring-road freeway traffic and rail lines for many large US cities. Essentially a lot of this equipment involved the use of semiconductor Laser Diodes, and E-LEDs. In my quest for suitable device types which could" 1. transmit >-10dBm at 1300nm into single-mode fiber 2. cost 1/4 of a typical Fabry-Perot Laser Diode 3. not require a cooler and I ran into Mr. Zeev Rav-Noy, founder of the then fledgling MRV Comm. His super-luminescent E-LED product was both unique and stable, and it became a mainstay into several low-end products which required less than 100MHz bandwidth. I am both pleased and somewhat surprised at the growth since then. Congratulations Zeev! smiles, Dave
