My speculations on some of the constant upgrades wonders if it's about you decided not to accept some additional crapware dufus that is part of the install and thus program tells you hey you are not upto date.

I just upgraded my last, my xp desktop from xp to window 7 ultimate. Finally got a more current quad video card that has window 7 drivers, but it only will drive two monitors if I boot XP, oh well. I also installed the window 7 on a 120 GB intel SSD hard drive. Now that makes for a real speed upgrade in my system.

I would recommend anyone first consider an SSD hard drive upgrade before looking at newer CPU systems be it desktop or laptop.
