The state has had an interest in wind for about four and a half decades. There at least used to be an experimental windmill at the western tip of Galveston Island since the early 1970s. Don't know its status post-Ike, but... The only thing restricting the growth of wind power in the state is the power lines in the areas where conditions are best for it. And that is being addressed.
