Our company builds PCS sites, and I wanted to make a couple of comments about PCS slow-to-market. First, PrimeCo just changed their name to PrimeCo Personal Communications (for what it's worth). Second, QCOM is shipping its "final version" of phone with good results in our area. Third, some of the delays are caused by zoning and building permits. The sites aren't going up as fast as anticipated. Probably one of the reasons GEMS has such a backlog of inventory. Also, tower and monopole mfgrs. are 3-5 months behind in production. that doesn't take into account the antenna mfgrs. and coax line mfgrs. Quality of installation and eventual system performance is also a problem. There aren't enough steel stackers and electronic techs to do the job. Know of any tower techs looking for a job?
