Marc:

Here in Mexico the market for Apple is not very big.
Apple introduced the Mac here but after 1986 or so they left the country apparently some problem with the Governement and then in
the 90's they came back: a lot of time was lost.
Anyway, the users here are very passionate, as everywhere, but the big majority is PC.
Also the Macs here are more expensive, I bought a 8600/300 a big local
distributor has a "promotion" with at around us$7k all taxes included on a 10 month lease (With extra ram, etc.)
Importing them from the U.S. is a problem as too many customs hassles.

Anyway, the distributor told me they had sold last month around 120 of
the 8600/300 ( A superb machine, by the way), does'nt sound too much to me, but consider the local price and maybe it is.
This is just a distributor and just Mexico City.

They are trying to sell this model and although the G3's are here
as well, they are pushing more on the past models.
Apple should try to do more on schools here and in general advertising.

Good luck to all,

Fernando
