Robert, what "subscription content?" I was not subscribed to Microsoft's ISP. And why would IE not do this immediately upon installation rather than wait several hours to do it?

I agree, whatever it is it should not be in "on" mode as the default. This is one of my biggest complaints with Microsoft's Windows, that being that it takes control away from the end-user.
