Larry,
From a technical standpoint i loaded up this am on MUEI. Fundamentally, sales are increasing and notebook sales are really taking off. Yes margins were pressured due to competition etc. etc., but the fact is that the number of unit sales were up significantly. Once prices come back in line and inventory is finsihed being worked through pofits will soar again. In addition, if you were Compaq or Dll and were hunting a company to buy...wouldn't you buy one with increasing market share and one that is winning award after award for their quality and service?? one that is real cheap?? One that is currently about 0.4 price to sales ratio?? And finally, one that just may have another homerun with the flat panel display??? Just think, you could wipe out almost all those advertising expenses immediately by sticking the name Compaq on all those quality computers. Wouldn't need "brand recognition" anymore. And you could probably do it today for 20 dollars a share!!!
