GS mentioned pressure from Asia when downgrading Ascend. Here is what I heard from China Central TV last night: the government will maintain the level of Yuan against the US dollar. Meanwhile, in 1998 the government will lower tax on imports, in order to balance import/export. Import in the technology sector will likely go up. I am not sure what stake Ascend and Oracle have in China. Anyone knows?
