Thank-you for some very good posts. I certainly hope Q4 and Q1'97 are the quarters which our CEO is talking about for an earnings surprise. I still think these quarters will be good with Q1'97 showing the best growth. Also it appears that Novell has quite a few product enhancements to be released in 'mid 1997'. For example the NDS NT directory "The first component, due in mid-1997, will support browsing of NDS data from within applications supporting Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)".

What we have to be focused on is maintaining our delivery schedules for products and not allow them to slip into next quarter or next year. Let's ship the products now that have completed the beta tests and then provide an upgrade latter as additional functions have been integrated into the product. This is another opportunity to visit the customer and sell other Novell and 3rd party applications.

Remember, there are a lot of customers that have to make an upgrade or switch decision in the next 6 to 12 months. Q1'97 will represent the first complete quarter of upgrade customers from our GreenRiver Product. I believe Q4'96 is a partial quarter for upgrades and there are probably several customers which will delay their 'buy' decision into the next year (Q1 1997).

EKS

P.S. I also like your posted article regarding Netscape and Novell. Novell is better off as a stand alone company but needs to develop a 'tight' partnership alliance with them going forward. It sounds like they have several proposals in the works that will help both companies solidify their positions in this industry. In particular the Netscape ONE protocal keeps comming up as the next generation for open system Intranets.
