I just took a look at the introduction, telepathy, and the alien influenced people sections of the book with an open mind, balancing out my intuitive and rational thinking as you suggest. It is actually what I aspire to do approaching any book I read or a methodology I examine for the first time.

And from just that brief introduction I couldn't come to terms with the idea that aliens have decisively influenced and control the history, civilization, and the scientific method of mankind. It's not just aliens but for that matter anything else other than human action would require a leap of faith and consequently human freedom is reduced to an empty slogan.

The best part of your alien thesis I personally found is that a human has the means to detect the alien presence by "willpower and self determination"...now that idea saves human freedom but remains in stark contrast to a view that our civilization and scientific progress is somewhat an alien product.
