Uruguay selects Gemalto for eID secure document and issuance solution gemalto.com Gemalto's instant issuance solution enables on-the-spot delivery of the highly secure document from more than 20 sites across the country. The microprocessor in the polycarbonate card provides strong user authentication and digital signature for the country's comprehensive suite of eGovernment services. It is ICAO-compliant, making it an official travel document within the Mercosur and associated countries. This new program reinforces the country's positioning at the forefront of innovation. Uruguay ranked number one in Latin America in the 2014 United Nations eGovernment index. Gemalto will provide consulting services all the way through the implementation, supporting the Ministry of Interior of Uruguay in on-boarding third parties such as banks, tax collection agencies or social security administrations to accelerate service adoption. The contract also includes maintenance and support services over five years.?
