Eric, re EaseUS WinPE recovery CD: In EaseUS under TOOLs I changed a setting. 'Enable preOS'. I clicked and enabled this. Then shut down and on reboot got a light blue screen asking me to choose an OS - Win8.1 or WinPE. I picked WinPE and [with recovery CD in drive] it started from the CD but the light blue screen showed an error 0xc000021a

at this I restarted and in EaseUS clicked 'disable PreOS' so I won't have to choose every time I boot.

I may later make a EaseUS Linux recovery CD and try the BIOS setting changes this requires before starting from the CD.
For now the Macrium WinPE recovery CD works, so I'll image with Macrium once a week.
