There are tremendous choices to purchase USB external drives. You can find them for sale everywhere, especially in the local computer and office stores and on the net at varied prices depending on the disk capacity. Among the more prominent vendors are Seagate and Western Digital. First determine the size of your hard drive and then buy accordingly. They are inexpensive for the benefits derived. I have four, one for each computer, and when traveling take the drive with the latest image and important file backup with me. For best security I alternate backups to different drives as they also can go bad. Flash drives are okay for quick file backups, but not always dependable, as you have experienced.
