I don't understand why ETSI is backing the WCDMA standard from Ericsson/Nokia when they have a very small/no presence in the CDMA area. The only reason can be support for home grown technology. It appears ironic when the two vendors selected have little or no technology to show right now in the CDMA area, ETSI is betting on future and as yet unproven technology from them.
