Interesting thoughts. Have you ever read about the Boltzmann brain paradox?
Even within the context of what you described, we are still limited by our inability to comprehend infinity in spatial and temporal terms, which is the limited way that we measure things. Even when we try to leap beyond our reality and mathematically define other dimensions, we still limit those when there actually are no limits.
For example, the expanding foam that you mentioned, which may have a definable edge, exists in something larger that has no edge, no beginning, and no end. That is what we cannot comprehend, but we will try all the way to the grave to understand it within our limited mentality -- and isn't it bizarre that we are aware that we have a limited mentality! We know that there is something call infinity, but we can't understand it. Sure, we can say that we understand that infinity means that time and space go on forever in all directions, but really try to imagine what that means for a moment. It's quite maddening. -g-
In our minds, we try to imagine what it would be like if we could travel to the edge of the universe, but there is no edge. Or, even if there are other dimensions beyond our dimension, there are no limits to those.
