how can you POSSIBLY believe it was a bigger mistake than Vietnam?
Because Vietnam was a proxy war fought during the Cold War. The rationale was the 'Domino Theory', much like the Korean war. It wasn't a mistake - it was a miscalculation. The US thought that their backing of one side over the other would make the difference. They never counted on the incredible dogged resistance of the Vietnamese communists backed by the Chinese communists.

Iraq was a war fought for no reason whatsoever (other than war profiteering!). Iraq hadn't attacked us on 9/11. Iraq was no threat to us. Iraq didn't sponsor terrorism or allow terrorists in the country. They had no WMD or any active WMD programs. Iraq's military had been destroyed in the first Gulf War. Saddam was a secular leader and saw Islamic jihaddis as threats to his rule.
