the phenomenonal events of this universe expand to create a consciousness that has emerged in us I'm not sure that consciousness is all that phenomenal. I have worked on artificial intelligence in my previous working life (I have a patent on the use of neural networks to recognize sounds in a distorted environment). I also think that consciousness may arise in the self organizing circuits of the various machines which are being built today. It worries me too since we have the technology to scale these machines to trillions of times connections as in a human brain. I suspect consciousness is another way humans attempt to believe they are the center of the universe. It causes us to deny consciousness to apes and dolphins and other creatures.
