If he had retreated into the cabin as he did, got his gun, and stayed in place waiting for anyone to enter, he would have done fine. But he didn't. He was heading out to confront a guy with a silly little pistol. Peter had a big shotgun. Ooops a daisy. The fact that he had received death threats doesn't mean he was killed as a result of the threats. They caught the gang and gaoled them. They were garden variety robbers who ran out of luck, though not as run out as Peter who lost big, being dead. <Once he got out of the watch of the bodyguards the contractors got some local bandidoes to help him making look like a robbery followed by death.> Mqurice
