What is wrong headed is you being on an evolution thread,yes Christianity emerged, adapted & evolved itself till it became fully accepted into the Roman milieu. Then it was fully 'Romanized' & women were not allowed freedom or positions before & after that transition, they lost ground.

Besides the monastic orders that we really look at when it comes to pure Christian asceticism, the first 200yrs or more was chracterized by the ritual holy meal. I love the baseline idea centers itself around communal eating, sharing nourishment, almost like what we had already been doing for some 10s of 1000s of years.
