I got a Firestick from Amazon.com so I could tap into the Amazon Prime Videos. It works great, but my TV only has two HDMI ports, so I can't have my DVD player and the Firestick plugged in at the same time.

I thought I could solve this problem by getting an HDMI splitter. I got one that has three ports and plugged the Firestick into #1 and the DVD player into #2, and then plugged the pigtail into the HDMI1 port on the TV.

This works unsatisfactorily. The signals transmit but the sound is very broken. Does anyone have experience with HDMI splitters? I don't know if my idea will

Things I've already tried:
  1. swapping HDMI2 and HDMI1 inputs.
  2. swapping ports on the splitter for the DVD and Firestick
  3. Turning off the unused device
I don't like to plug and unplug HDMi cables any more than I have to because they seem to be fragile, and plugging in takes a little finesse. I'm afraid of damaging the port on the TV.

Could this be related to the Splitter quality? Would a more expensive one work better?

Thanks in advance for any tips.
