Fed...see how much they prescribe.

Yes, I went though hell getting my monthly pain meds where I needed them. But what you need in the hospital after surgery should not be part of this. My cancer op seven years ago when fine because I had a good relationship with my surgeon. If I have any problem in the future with abdominal surgery I will probably opt for flying to San Diego to have it done at the Kaiser there. They get better surgeons that we do, IMO. Doctors come over here for the weather and leave because of the cost of living.

Homes here are going though the roof due to the Asian pressure to buy here. Add in the cost of taxes, food and utilities and I don't see how middle class people will be able to retire over here. I am in good shape because I split a condo with a dance buddy. If she should decide to go mainland, I would have to drastically cut my living standards to stay here if I live to 100. If I planned to end it all at 90, I would be fine. But with my luck, my good health will last longer than my money. Right now, like most of us, my index fund is rising more than I need each year to cover expenses. That won't last forever. I started drawing SS 15 years ago and my monthly check is 33% more than what it started at. Inflation is up 37% over the same period, but I feel like I am ahead.

I tell people, don't plan on retiring here. Sell out when you retire, take your profit, and go mainland. Usually Scottsdale.
