But Jeff! You wouldn't want to have such fast swings of an economy even if they were possible. You seem to think we got to this good place in our economy overnight. That is just the case as things have been steadily getting better since we hit the bottom. Look at unemployment; it is one smooth chart getting better every month. Had you by some political miracle been able to have the huge swings back to a robust economy that you wanted - well we likely would have all kinds of secondary problems to deal with now. Some say the Depression of 1929 wasn't fixed until the forties when we went to war - so in comparison this Depression (as Krugman called it) has been very short lived.

I've been around a long time Jeff, I've very seldom seen such a great economy as we have right now. Not because any one statistic is so overpowering - but because so many different measures of economic health are all hitting their strides at the same time. You best count your blessings, because it won't be this good forever.
