That would require a full commitment to selling. It's pretty obvious that was never part of the Strategic Review process. They may have shown some parties selected data, but it would be suicide to open up your books if there was any chance you are not definitely going to sell. If the company is really and truly for sale, you would get a very different, serious reaction and concern from bidders. It's old contributor rrburns/Hillclimb's (wonder where he is now) theory that if "nobody moves, nobody gets hurt". They keep telling us the patents are valuable but as we know there is only one true arbiter of value, the open marketplace....
