I happen to support the decision to go "paid" 110%. We've got to remember that these are public 'anonymous' forums and anyone is free to post anything they please. Paul has been transparent from day one. I don't know many posters who publicly disclose their real name and professions but Paul has done that from the beginning and I applaud that. Unfortunately, this has also attracted 'the internet trolls' and in fact one SI user has made a habit of bashing any of Paul's picks any chance he gets. I believe that part of the reason SCD was created was to prevent these trolls from sabotaging his reputation. If SI is going to let these characters roam freely then what is the point of subjecting ourselves to this abuse. As far as I see it the goal is still as originally intended "to have a place to share and exchange investment ideas" but that "place" may have been forced to move to a new environment. Let's not forget Paul has given us many great picks over the past few years and many have capitalized on these picks over that time. He obviously has a talent and has developed a loyal following. I have gladly paid up for a SCD membership just to show my support for Paul and I suspect many of us are in the same boat. My goal was never to subscribe in order to be the first one to buy into a recommended stock and front-run others. I did so for the research and analysis that went behind each selection. Out natural intention is to always look for holes or find the negative in any situation. Paul has always been on the up and up and those that think he is front-running or scamming us in some way stay away... No one is forcing you to subscribe or invest in his selections. There are plenty of stocks out there for everyone and not all of us will always agree on them.
