<< I seem to remember that SSPIF is not totally relying on TI C6x DSP chips. Can't they use ADI also? ...... Any idea how the DSP chips being late to market, as stated by Gold, impact the plans of SSPIF? >>

Spectrum did 11M in sales last quarter without c6x. They are far from dependent on this product. They have extensive floating point OEM product line based upon ADI's Sharc DSP and TI's TMS320C4'x and prior DSP's. Sales of these product are up 65% ytd and show no signs of slowing down. Spectrum's V.34 8-10 modem per c6x software is not scheduled for production until late Spring '98 at the earliest. Thus, a small slippage by TI in the release of c6x is not going to sink Spectrum. Given the big multi $M dollar investmnet they have made in developing and marketing a c6x product line this year, with no revenue generated to date, it is very impressive that they have remained solidly profitable in the interim. My biggest concern at this point is that the prolonged depressed share price may possibly be preventing the company from pursuing its acquisition strategy, due to the lack of acceptable financing. I have been in this stock since '94 and can say that the company is very frugal in investing in new or unproven areas(they are looking to make $ in their investments, have great vision, and do not simply follow the pack and jump on every new technology bandwagon), thus I believe they see a huge market for their c6x product line given the unprecedented time and money they have already spent with it.
