Alphonse - Yup IBM is certainly one of the greats. Let's see... They put 200,000 out of work due to their teriffic management, fumbled and punted on OS/2, lost their lock on the mainframe disk drive market to first HDS and now EMC, are still trying to to sell PC's at a profit, can't seem to ever get their product development groups to talk to each other and coordinate development so that IBM hardware and software can can easily communicate with each other (let alone outside products), etc.

This isn't a flame, just fact. IBM could make an offer for NOVL (after all they did buy Lotus) but I doubt they will. The only real advantage NOVL has over MS right now is their DNS support and MS will have that working effectively within a year. Whatever happens to NOVL (buyout or staying the course on their own), they will lose customers to MS. IBM isn't even in this picture and purchasing NOVL won't get them into it....
