Suma, for now you could write posts in a word processor and then copy/paste to SI so as not to lose them.
I wrote a long letter to Gottfried and it is lost somewhere in Cyberspace..
Have you updated Windows 7 on the Toshiba?
That comes first, before all the other things that need fixing.

Suma, the next step: here are instructions how to update Windows 7 which you have on your Toshiba windows.microsoft.com the instructions are from MS! Windows is the most important program and needs to be up-to-date before other problems are addressed. please tell us how the update is going. Some Windows updates take a long time but you don't need to stand by, just check progress occasionally.one step at a time :)
after Windows 7 has been updated you can then also update IE and use it instead of Chrome - if you prefer
