Wind Power Down To 0.9% In UK

February 10, 2015

By Paul Homewood

http://www.bmreports.com/bsp/bsp_home.htm

It’s peak demand tonight in the UK, and wind is supplying just 0.9% of the country’s electricity.

Meanwhile, coal and gas are producing 68.4%.

Decarbonisation, anyone?

Oh, stop looking at just the negatives of windmills, look at the benefits –

Like the renewable energy industry gave us all those thousands of Green jobs, … er, …somewhere,,

But the operators say they don’t pollute the atmoshere — true, if you ignore the thousands of rotting dead birds scattered hither and yon.

They are environmentally friendly say the advocates — if you overlook massive amount of concrete in their footing, the mixed man-made fibers in the in the blades, and the fact that most of the structure and the electronics in them are not easily recyclable. Overlook that these industrial machines are a blot on the nation’s countryside.
And do not mention that all the time that the windmill is online a fossil fuel-powered generator is running as the rolling reserve ready for when the wind fails to blow.(Guess who gets to pay for the rolling reserve?)

But surely they save us money in the long run you think — the most pernicious lie for without a subsidy when building them, a subsidy when actually supplying electricity, and a subsidy for being off-line and not supplying electricity, these monstrous eyesores could not exist. That’s a subsidy every electricity grid user is paying for – like it or not, you can’t opt out.
Be aware that fossil fuel in industrialized Western countries get zero subsidy, as they can really pay their way unlike dirty, bird-killing, wind power.

And of course, The manufacture of the huge Neodymium magnets required, doesn’t cause any pollution at all.

Well, not where the greenies can see it, anyway. !

Daily Mail | 11 Feb 2015 | Ben Spencer | The £400million feed-in frenzy |

Green energy firms accused of making wind turbines LESS efficient so they appear weak enough to win small business funding.
Report identified gaping loophole used by ‘more than 100' wind turbines — Small turbines earn ‘feed-in tariffs’ to subsidise cost of green power But large firms are downgrading turbines to earn same fund, it is claimed this practice could cost the country £400million over the next 20 years Government launched investigation but claims numbers are ‘incorrect’…

Green energy companies are scooping up millions of pounds in subsidies by artificially capping the power their wind turbines produce, according to a damning report.
A gaping loophole in the Government’s renewable energy ‘feed-in’ system means firms can get more money for producing less power…
Feed-in tariffs, the guaranteed price paid for green energy, were originally designed to boost small-scale community wind farms, with smaller turbines receiving a higher payment per unit of energy.

But an investigation by the IPPR thinktank has revealed that big companies are taking advantage of that system by intentionally limiting the power they produce to qualify for the higher rate

environmental disasters of alternative energy …
Posted on November 17, 2013 by Tom Harley

Environmental degradation is now worse from renewables like wind and solar than fossil fuels, a new report from Canada shows:

Fossil fuels now beat wind and solar on environmental as well as economic grounds: ‘When governments try to impose large-scale renewable technologies, they lay waste to nature’Lawrence Solomon: ‘Despite the hundreds of billions of dollars governments have spent over the decades in aid of kick-starting a large-scale renewables industry, wind and solar complexes are generally incapable of helping humanity progress today or in the foreseeable future. Fossil fuels, in contrast, have gone from success to success for several centuries now, with no end in sight.’[…]Wind’s ecological trail of destruction extends back to China, which supplies most of the rare earths required in the construction of wind turbines. When we in the West erect a wind turbine, reported an investigative article in the UK’s Daily Mail, we help create “a vast man-made lake of poison in northern China” that, according to locals, withers their crops and kills their animals. It’s not just the killing of insects, bats and birds, but the toxic waste from essential rare earth metals used in renewable energy production is a blight on the environment.
